From
the Chairman
I am pleased to announce that UMC's Corporate Social Responsibility
(CSR) Report for 2008 has been published. This is the 9th
time that UMC has published a non-financial public report, which
is aligned with GRI G3 guidelines. Moreover, it is the first
year that the report has been independently verified. This verification
demonstrates that the content, information and data for economic,
environmental protection and social aspects are true and accurate.
In addition, this confirmation signifies UMC's discreetness,
emphasis and progressiveness in information disclosure.
