UMC Statement Regarding Recent Typhoon

Hsinchu, Taiwan, August 30, 2013 - United Microelectronics Corporation (TWSE: 2303, NYSE: UMC) today announced that typhoon "Kong-Rey", which passed near Taiwan from August 28 to August 29, had no affect on UMC's operations. All personnel and facilities are fine at UMC's Hsinchu and Tainan sites with no impact to manufacturing.
