UMC Group Relocates U.S.
Headquarters
SUNNYVALE, Calif, August 5, 1999--United Microelectronics Corporation
(UMC) today announced it has relocated its U.S. headquarters to
accommodate the company's tremendous growth. The company has relocated
to a 25,000-foot facility located at 488 DeGuigne Drive, Sunnyvale,
California 94086 which will house all of the company's U.S. operations
including sales, marketing and R&D, and over one-hundred employees.
James D. Kupec, president of UMC Group (USA) said, "Due to
UMC Group's expanding customer base in the U.S. and the trend
that chip companies are outsourcing wafer production to pure-play
semiconductor manufacturers, we have outgrown our previous facilities.
With our new facility, we will be able to further grow our staff
and support our 40 - 50 percent per year growth model."
