Important Fab Status
Update
Due
to a power shortage that affects a supplier of Nitrogen
Gas to the Hsinchu Science Park, UMC has suffered a reduction
in nitrogen gas supply to some of its manufacturing facilities.
In order to best respond to the reduced supply, UMC has
shut down the operation of some of its wafer fabrication
equipment. Currently, we are securing a supply of liquid
nitrogen as a temporary backup supply until our nitrogen
supplier has resumed normal operations. We believe that
the influence to customer wafers in production is minimal,
and will provide a further update as soon as we have completed
our assessment of the situation.
