Empowering Youth to Find Purpose and Unleash Their Potential

There are many groups in Taiwan dedicated to empowering the next generation. The Teenager Performing Arts League (“What’s Young”) helps youth explore their talents through theater. The Nantou Shiuhkuang Senior High School’s karate team, which has developed a reputation as “Taiwan’s Shaolin Temple” for the number of medalists it has produced, provide young adults the means to build confidence and ambition. Tung-Shih Senior High School, the only school in Chiayi County with a junior baseball team, gives disadvantaged youths a chance at success in life by building character and honing a new skill.

In addition to long-term financial assistance, the foundation also leverages UMC’s network to recruit volunteers and make resources available to these groups, enabling them to maximize their impact and reach.


“UMC believes that we can empower the young generation to find purpose by showing them that we are there and that we care,” said Ho Hui-ping, project manager of the UMC Science and Culture Foundation. There are already a lot of passionate people dedicated to improving the lives of our youths, she added, and we hope more individuals and companies will give their time and resources to give youngsters, especially those in need, a brighter future.
