聯華電子今 (12) 日宣佈推出採用美國 AmberWave 公司矽基晶圓的應變矽 (Strained Silicon) 技術。於六月十日至十二日的 2003 國際超大型積體電路技術研討會 (2003 VLSI symposium),聯電發表的應變矽報告中指出:聯電的應變矽製程大幅提昇了互補金屬氧化半導體 (CMOS) 的效能,70 奈米的應變矽電晶體已被證明可載運超過一般矽電晶體 20% 的電流,並於測試電路中提昇速度逾 10%。 聯電負責中央研究發展部的孫世偉副總經理表示:聯電的應變矽製程技術為提昇晶片效能而無需大幅縮減閘極長度,提供了解決方案。相信我們的客戶夥伴在未來都將因能夠取得此技術而受益。我們目前正與 AmberWave 公司共同為提高 P - 通道電晶體的性能、改進應變矽製程缺陷密度 (defect density) 及降低應變矽製程相關的矽基層成本而努力。 AmberWave 公司執行長 Mitch Tyson 表示:為因應深次微米技術所面臨之電晶體性能之問題與挑戰,我們察覺各公司對應變矽技術的興趣正急速增加中。AmberWave 公司因有堅強的技術實力及充足的 IP,能幫助客戶藉由我們的應變矽技術而受益。聯電是我們的技術夥伴、我們很高興能與聯電合作,提供應變矽技術的優勢給聯電的晶圓專工夥伴。 |
