UMC Shareholders Approve 2010 Retained Earnings Distribution at Annual Shareholders Meeting

Taipei, Taiwan, R.O.C. – June 15, 2011 - United Microelectronics Corporation (NYSE: UMC; TWSE: 2303) ("UMC"), a leading global semiconductor foundry, today held its 2011 annual shareholders meeting, during which shareholders approved all agenda items including UMC's 2010 business report and financial statements.

At the meeting, shareholders also approved:

  • The 2010 retained earnings distribution, which includes shareholder cash dividend of NT$14,034 million, estimated at approximately NT$1.12 per share, employee cash bonus of NT$2,477 million, and directors' remuneration of NT$21 million. The details of the dividend distribution rate and date will be set during UMC's upcoming Board Meeting.
  • The amendment of the Company's "Articles of Incorporation" and "Procedure for Election of Directors and Supervisors".
