UMC Receives 2011 Best Supplier Award from Xilinx

Tainan, Taiwan, April 30, 2012 - United Microelectronics Corporation (NYSE: UMC; TSE: 2303) ("UMC"), a leading global semiconductor foundry, today announced that it has received the "Best Supplier Award" from Xilinx for 2011 for achieving the highest overall performance score for technology, quality, delivery, responsiveness, and cost. Xilinx presents this award annually to one selected supplier for their contributions to the company's success, among fab, assembly/test, and substrate partners.
