Hsinchu, Taiwan, October 8, 2015 - United Microelectronics Corporation (NYSE: UMC; TWSE: 2303) ("UMC”), a leading global semiconductor foundry, today announced that it has been ranked second in the 2015 Channel NewsAsia Sustainability Top 100 Ranking, and top among all Taiwan companies. UMC represented all Taiwan companies at the 2015 CSR Asia Summit in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

The Channel NewsAsia Sustainability Ranking is conducted by Singapore Channel NewsAsia, and its partners CSR Asia and Sustainalytics. This year, the ranking covers Asian companies across 11 key regions including China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, and Japan. The index lists the Top 100 companies with the highest sustainability performance in environmental, social and corporate governance, providing stakeholders such as investors and consumers a benchmark to evaluate companies’ performance in sustainability and information disclosure.
