Hsinchu, Taiwan, May 12, 2016 - UMC (TWSE: 2303, NYSE: UMC) today announced that it is currently assessing any impact from the recent 5.8 magnitude earthquake recorded in northern Taiwan on May 12 at 11:17am. The quake was registered as a magnitude 3 at our Hsinchu fab sites and 1 at our Tainan Fab 12A location. We will post updates as soon as information from individual fab sites is gathered and evaluated.
