Employee health is taken very seriously at UMC, and the company has a proactive health management system in place to help employees detect any health issues early and better manage their health.

In addition to a safe and healthy work environment, UMC also encourages work-life balance by providing a range of quality facilities such as on-site eateries, accommodation, and sports centers. In 2023, the company completed major renovation work to upgrade its Hsinchu headquarters, creating a modern and sophisticated space that excites and motivates employees. To provide affordable and convenient childcare, UMC recently established a non-profit kindergarten near its Tainan campus in partnership with the Southern Taiwan Science Park.

In 2022, UMC strengthened its commitment to an inclusive workplace with the announcement of its Diversity and Inclusion Statement, which guides that equal opportunities shall be offered without bias based on factors such as race, color, gender, or age.

Lastly, UMC aims to enhance employees’ sense of fulfillment by building a volunteering culture through events organized by the company and the UMC Science and Culture Foundation. One recent volunteer initiative that started in 2022 is a program to design and run workshops for elementary students, teaching them about semiconductors in a fun and interactive way. To date, UMC volunteers have held 60 workshops with over 5,000 students.

People are UMC’s most important assets, and the company will continue to build a workplace that fosters trust and a sense of belonging, and where employees feel cared for and fulfilled.
