UMC is one of eight firms to be awarded this honor every year since the implementation of the Corporate Governance Evaluation in 2015 by the two local exchanges, recognizing the Company’s commitment to corporate governance and sustainable development. A total of 1,662 companies were reviewed in this year’s assessment, with 46 TWSE and 37 TPEx listed firms selected for the top 5% ranking.

UMC continually strives to enhance its corporate governance, such as ensuring the protection of shareholders’ rights and interests, strengthening the structure and operation of its board of directors, increasing information transparency, and promoting sustainable development. As an example, the Company has taken steps to increase the diversity of its board of directors to boost effectiveness. UMC’s board is composed of nine directors with a range of professional backgrounds, with over half of the board seats held by independent directors.
