Management Team

Chairman Hung graduated from Tam Kang University in Taiwan with a degree in accounting. He joined UMC in 1991 and has served as UMC's Chief Financial Officer, and previous to becoming chairman he was senior vice president of the company. In 2004, Institutional Investor Magazine recognized Mr. Hung as the semiconductor sector's best CFO in their Asia Equities Market Report. Mr. Hung is also chairman of Faraday Technology Corporation and Silicon Integrated Systems Corporation.

Jason Wang is Chief Executive Officer of UMC.

Mr. Wang joined UMC as Vice President of Corporate Marketing in 2008, and from 2009 to 2014, served as President of UMC USA, responsible for business operations and North America strategic business development. He was later appointed Senior Vice President, and became Co-President in 2017. As Co-President, Mr. Wang oversaw corporate strategy & planning, sales & marketing, and customer engineering. He was named Chief Executive Officer in 2026.

Prior to UMC, Mr. Wang spent 18 years at Trident Microsystems in various leadership roles. He was named Vice President of Trident’s Business Operations and Finance (Asia) after leading a strategic restructuring plan in 2003, shifting the company’s business focus from PC graphics to digital media. As a result, the company’s enterprise value increased tenfold within 3 years.

Ming Hsu is President and Chief Operating Officer of UMC.

A semiconductor industry veteran with more than 30 years of experience, Mr. Hsu joined UMC in 2003. Throughout his tenure at the company, he has held leadership roles across key functions including IP & Design Support, Sales Operations, Corporate & Operation Planning, Corporate Marketing, and Customer Engineering. Prior to his current appointment, he served as Executive Vice President, overseeing global business strategy and corporate operational planning across UMC’s diversified manufacturing sites.

Chitung Liu is Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of UMC. In addition, Mr. Liu serve as the Company’s Spokesperson and Head of Corporate Development. He joined UMC in 2001 and received the Best IR Professional Award from Institutional Investor in 2005, and was named Best Corporate Executive of the Year in Taiwan by Asia Money in 2006.

Prior to joining UMC, Mr. Liu worked at UBS as Managing Director and Head of Asian Technology Research.

Oliver Chang is Senior Vice President of Global Sales at UMC. He has been with UMC for more than 20 years, during which he has held various positions including Vice President of Sales at UMC Japan, Sales Director for the Asia region, and Vice President of Sales at UMC USA.

Between 2008 and 2020, Mr. Chang served as Chief Executive Officer of the U.S. subsidiary of Elpida Memory, Inc., and later became Chief Sales Officer of the group. Following that, he joined Japan Display Inc.’s Taiwan module assembly subsidiary, serving as its Chairman. 

G C Hung is Senior Vice President of Technology & Business Development at UMC.  He plays a pivotal role in shaping the company’s corporate strategy, customer engineering, and corporate marketing initiatives, while leading overall corporate R&D.

Prior to his current position, Mr. Hung served as Vice President of Technology Development at UMC, during which he successfully delivered critical projects that positioned UMC as a leader in specialty technologies.

Demonstrating commitment to industry advancement, Mr. Hung acted as co-chair of SEMI Taiwan’s IC Committee from 2019 to 2022.

Mr. TS Wu currently serves as the Senior Vice President, in charge of UMC’s global Fab operations, and Chief Information Security Officer at UMC.

He joined UMC in 1990 and brings over 30 years of experience in semiconductor manufacturing. Throughout his career, Mr. Wu has led a wide range of functions across the company, including wafer fabrication, process integration, technology transfer and development, smart manufacturing and digital security, as well as manufacturing resource integration and engineering services.

Mr. Wu also serves as Secretary General of UMC’s Corporate Sustainability Committee, where he is dedicated to integrating business operations with sustainable development, and leads the formulation and implementation of the company’s environmental, social, and governance (ESG) strategies.
