BCD (Bipolar-CMOS-DMOS) technology delivers power IC designs of up to 100V operating voltage, enabling exceptional energy efficiency and high integration that combines analog circuits and digital content as well as power devices and embedded NVMs.

UMC’s BCD technology nodes range from 0.5um to 55nm, with device offerings that include LV MOS, HV DMOS, Mixed-Signal and Analog devices, passive devices, and embedded non-volatile memories covering all electronic applications such as consumer, computing, communication, industrial and automotive.

UMC’s embedded High Voltage (eHV) technology is based on Logic CMOS processes for the manufacturing of various display driver ICs, which play a key role in various display panels including LCD, OLED, as well as emerging micro-LED, micro-OLED, etc.

UMC offers the foundry industry’s broadest portfolio of eHV solutions to accommodate various sizes and display technologies used everywhere in our daily life.

Modern consumer products encounter the challenge of higher diversification but lower volume of units. Embedded non-volatile memories can satisfy this trend since they can be used in different applications by updating firmware. For high endurance applications such as smartcard, SIM card or MCU, eE²PROM or eFlash is ideal. Middle to low range endurance or density applications such as power management ICs can adopt eMTP. Those requiring one time programmable applications can adopt eOTP or eFuse.

UMC‘s RFCMOS platform is based on standard logic process with RF model offerings to deliver a high performance, low cost solution for RFIC designs. UMC's RFCMOS technologies span from 0.25µm to 22nm process nodes.

The successful design of an RF SoC requires a solution that provides access to, RF models, EDA tools. In addition, UMC's FDK (Foundry Design Kit) offers a user-friendly platform that integrates schematic entry, simulation, layout editor, parameter extraction, and layout check all within one package. The unique virtual inductor / capacitor libraries provide faster inductor / capacitor simulation for RF designers who can now design “optimized inductors / capacitors” within a few minutes. These robust solutions make UMC’s RFCMOS process one of the most competitive in the foundry industry.

For emerging 5G era, more advanced RF blocks are required in smartphone, small/macro cells or FWA/CPE devices. UMC’s RF CMOS solutions, support a wide range of spectrum from sub-GHz, sub-6GHz to mmWave.

Our RFSOI platform features RF front-end solutions for Antenna Switches, Antenna Tuners and LNAs for 4G/LTE and 5G applications with low harmonics, highly competitive Ron*Coff performance and LNA device performance. UMC’s RFSOI portfolio has been successfully adopted by multiple customers in the market.

UMC provide access to advanced imaging technologies through our CMOS Image Sensor (CIS) foundry services to support a variety of applications, including camera phones, gaming, security cameras, optical mouse, medical and automotive 360° viewing applications, etc.

UMC's 8" manufacturing capability & strong technical support has resulted in significant MEMS product successes including microphone, inertial sensors, pressure sensors and environmental sensors (temperature/humidity sensors, gas sensors) for UMC customers, with more than hundreds of thousands of wafers shipped already.

Based on current and upcoming MEMS market requirements, UMC has established a series of fundamental MEMS process building blocks such as Si/SiO2 DRIE, Si/SiO2 release, stress controllable SiN/Poly-Si, wafer thinning, ion beam etch, double side aligner, and many others to help customers construct MEMS structures in a CMOS foundry fab. Many customers have benefited from these solutions to introduce a variety of MEMS devices to market.

In addition, to further drive this sizeable market, UMC is extending its collaboration with industrial partners via robust business models. By maintaining investment in competitive processes, UMC and its upstream and downstream partners can establish a MEMS ecosystem to incubate new applications in the evolving MEMS sensor market.
