In the summer of 2025, UMC Foundation participated in the 65th National Primary and High School Science Fair. One of the key themes promoted by UMC is water recycling. Through an interactive board game designed by UMC, volunteers helped students understand how tap water is transformed into ultra-pure water and recycled wastewater in semiconductor manufacturing, highlighting the connection between water sustainability and the semiconductor industry.
Other games and experiences at UMC’s booth included “Mastering Logic Gate Master” and “The Magic World in the Mirror”, which introduced programming basics and optical principles through engaging hands-on activities. UMC volunteers—from engineers to accountants—served as science instructors, joined by students from Chutung Senior High School and employees’ children as assistant teachers.

Empowering Interest in STEM Through Volunteer Engagement
|
To prepare for the event, the UMC Foundation organized six volunteer training sessions in collaboration with NTHU’s Interdisciplinary Science Education Center and the CAVEDU Education Team. Through experiments, electronics modules, and trial teaching, volunteers built a strong foundation in science communication.

At the fair, UMC’s booth attracted strong engagement and received nearly 700 positive feedback forms. Visitors praised the clear explanations and interactive games that made complex concepts easy to understand. Entering its second year, UMC Foundation remains committed to promoting science education, inspiring children’s curiosity, and empowering employees to share their professional knowledge with society.
